Without an account

Reading lessons and tasks stores nothing about you on our servers. Your lesson progress and the diagram you are drawing are kept in your own browser, so they survive a reload; clearing this site’s data in the browser removes them.

When you start or finish a lesson the site counts it, for the numbers the person running it looks at. If you have no cookie from us, it is counted without anything that identifies you — one more in that day’s tally for that lesson.

The first time you save something on the server — press Check, create a design of your own, or share a snapshot — the site sets one cookie, arch_anon: a random identifier, signed so that nobody can forge somebody else’s, kept for 400 days. It is what makes those reviews, designs and snapshots yours. From then on, your lesson starts and finishes are counted against it too.

With an account

Signing in with GitHub gives us your GitHub id, login, name and avatar. We ask GitHub for nothing else: not your email address, and no access to your repositories. While you are signed in, a session cookie keeps you signed in. Whatever you had saved as a guest in that browser moves to the account.

If you store your own Anthropic API key, it is encrypted before it is saved, used only for your own reviews, and never sent back to the browser.

What leaves this site

When you press Check, your diagram, the requirements you ticked and the task’s text are sent to Anthropic’s API, which writes the review — on this site’s key, or on yours if you stored one. Nothing that identifies you goes with it. Signing in goes through GitHub. Like any web server, ours writes access logs — addresses and the pages requested — which are used to keep the site running and safe.

How long

Reviews, designs of your own, snapshots, drafts and lesson progress stay until you delete them — a design one at a time from your list, or everything at once below. A snapshot you shared can be opened by anybody with its link until then.

When you delete something, it is gone. What the site keeps is that it happened: a count, by day, of reviews, designs, snapshots, accounts and lessons started and finished — never what you drew or wrote. Once an account is deleted, its counts are moved to an identifier made up on the spot and recorded nowhere, so nothing in them leads back to you.

Delete everything

This browser has nothing saved on our server. What it keeps for the site — lesson progress and drafts — is in the browser itself, and this clears it.
